Baby It's Cold Outside

Earlier this month, I worked on a duet with Catherine Taddo. It's a cover of Frank Loesser's Baby, It's Cold Outside. The piano is played by our good friend David Lynch and the vocals are sung by Catherine and myself (Olaf).

The song is available on this year's Vile Christmas album. Catherine took the time to create a video for the song, which I've included below. We've never recorded anything in this genre before. What do you think?

Download Club: Issue #2

Way back before Andrew joined the band, I (Olaf) recorded an album I called "Lucky Me". Andrew did pop by to record some vocals on the album and you'll hear him if you listen carefully here and there.

One of the standout tracks on this album is Lazy Eye. To give it some kind of context, let me just say that I was having dinner with a couple I knew from school. The female half of the couple was telling me about how they had gone out to see a drag show and that while at the venue "a transvestite with a lazy eye" had been hitting on her boyfriend. I couldn't shake the image and I eventually was forced to put pen to paper. So, here you go, this months free download. The "Lazy Eye" album track from "Lucky Me".

Download Club: Issue #1

It's time for our inaugural Download Club posting. The rules are simple. On the 1st of each month, we will post something free for you to download. The item will be available for one week. After that point, it will go offline. To be notified of our monthly downloads, you can either:

a) Join the mailing list
b) Follow our Twitter feed
c) Subscribe to this blog

So, let's go ahead and kick things off.

Download #1: Over

Back when we were recording How to Find and Fascinate a Mistress, we recorded a couple of songs which we weren't able to fit into the final album. Over is one of those songs. It's a lot heavier than most of the songs which made the album, but it's a fun one. We had been looking for a place to use it and this seems like a great opportunity.

Download Over now.

Join Our New Download Club

Over the time that the band has been together, we've recorded a lot of musicwhich we've never released. What we'd like to do is release some of this music (and other cool stuff) for free on a monthly basis. If you'd like to be a part of our "Download Club", there will be 2 ways to get the files:
  1. Join our mailing list
  2. Follow us on Twitter

The rules of the download club are simple. On the first day of every month, we'll post a link to the latest free download. This download will be available for one week. After that, the download will once again go offline. The location of the download will be announced on our mailing list and on our Twitter feed, so you'll need to subscribe to one (or both) in order to get the notifications.

So, that's really all there is to it. The first download will become available on Oct 1st, 2009, so sign up now if you don't want to miss it!
